Review of Iggy and the Stooges: Raw Power
To wrap up the end of the teens decade (Is that what you call it?) I (Darren) had figured we had gone too far to not have an Iggy Pop album reviewed. Considering our goal is to listen to massively influential albums and see if they stand the test of time and are what some claimed them to be this wa the time for Iggy.
This album is literally RAW! It was recorded on only 3 channels crudely and the label initially hated it until David Bowie himself remixed it in one day to a place where the label would accept it. I had figured that probably at least 2 of our 4 members would not like this album. Listen and see why I was pleasantly surprised by an overwhelmingly warm reception on this very hard and grinding album. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
We invite you to hear our four differing opinions of this album and learn about this album. In this podcast you will learn the following and much more:
- Why we stayed away from all the debates around which mix is best. Sheesh, just enjoy the album and stop analyzing it. That definitely isn’t punk.
- Scott Gregory is a bit of a punk fan contrary to what Darren thought
- What Cabaret you should immediately drive to and participate in. It’s not what you think, unless it is what you think.
Listen to our thoughts and see if this is worth going back to and let us know what your experience was with this album.
