Review of ZZ Top: Tres Hombres

Scott Coates picked ZZ Top and their third album, Tres Hombres, for May 2021. Some of us knew a few of the songs, but what we didn’t know, was that we were embarking on an epic journey into one of the most banger albums of all time. Ok, so maybe by reading this you realize how much we liked the album. But please listen to what we discovered, and why this album still stands up after 48 years. They may haver been “sharp dressed” in the 80s, but ZZ Top are on-point rockin’-blues masters in this album. You gotta listen!

A few things you will find out in this episode are:
• Billy Gibbons, guitar legend, learned from Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman! Wait what!?

• The actual recording fidelity, mixing and production on this 1973 album, are out-of-this-world. It’s like you are there, with headphones on.

• A Nickleback breakthrough moment on our show, may have sparked a round idea!

Enjoy and comment!
